Proposed Classes to begin mid-June (pending construction)
Check back in mid-May for the calendar and painting samples.
Beginners Only – This is a 4-week introductory class. If you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or aren’t sure about acrylic paints this is the class for you. This class will show you how to use the brushes, how to mix paints, learn techniques with glazes and painting mediums, and learn to paint a landscape. Students do NOT need to purchase their own art supplies for this class.
$100 for 4-weeks.
Landscape Class – Easy-to-follow instruction, step-by-step demonstration, will guide you to create the painting. A sample of the painting will be posted here later. Each class runs for 2 hours and we work on our paintings week by week until complete – depending on the complexity of the painting, the average completion time is 4-6 weeks. * See below about Paints, Brushes, & Canvases. $20 each week
Painting with a Minimal Palette – In this class you’ll discover the color harmony created with a minimal primary palette. The colors for every painting in this class will be Ultramarine Blue, Rose Madder, Cadmium Yellow Light, and Titanium White. Easy-to-follow instruction and demonstration will guide even the novice to create a beautiful artwork. The painting sample for this class will be posted later. Subject matter will vary in this class – landscape, seascape, still life. We’ll work on a painting each week until complete. * See below about Paints, Brushes, & Canvases. $20 each week.
Independent Class – These classes are for YOU if you like to work on your own acrylic painting in a class setting. I can guide you as needed to make choices for your painting idea and provide help along the way. Independent Class students bring their own supplies (canvas, brushes, paints). Independent Classes may use whatever brands and colors of acrylics they choose. $20 each week
By the Sea – This class also unfolds like the Landscape Class, but the subject matter is Coastal New England. The paintings in this class will vary from seascapes to seagulls to lighthouses and more. You’ll find a sample painting posted here by mid-May. Each class runs for 2 hours and we work on our paintings week by week until complete – depending on the complexity of the painting, the average completion time is 4-6 weeks. * See below about Paints, Brushes, & Canvases. $20 each week
The Saturday Workshops – Finish a painting in one session. Like the Landscape Class the step-by-step instruction guides you through the process. Classes begin at 9a.m., we take a 30 min. break for lunch (bring your own), then we resume to complete the painting by 3:00. The painting sample will be posted by mid-May.
The Saturday Workshop fee is $70 (includes canvas & use of class paints and brushes. Frames for the paintings are not included.)
About Paints, Brushes, & Canvases
Students are encouraged to purchase their own paints and brushes. I use a specific brand (SOHO Urban Artist Acrylics in all my classes) and students must use the exact colors I have chosen for our palette. Alternatively, you may use class brushes and paints for $5 extra per class. Click on this link to find my “teacher’s cart” at Jerrysartarama.com where you can order the items you need. (You can check off the items needed, not every item has to be ordered at once.) Canvases should also be purchased prior to class. For convenience I’ll have a supply of canvases available to purchase (but save money and buy them at a better price from Michaels or Hobby Lobby).
