Pastel Shadows

(Acrylic on canvas panel, 2008) The storm left a thick blanket of fluffy snow earlier this afternoon. The winter winds quickly disrobed the white-clad trees and now it’s simply cold. The pastel shadows across the back yard suggest the distant warmth, but I know winter’s just begun.
