Bandstand Near the Boulder

(See Links) This taste of Americana is a scene from Main St., Fitchburg, Massachusetts in early May. The freshness of springtime and the morning light cast an air of distinctiveness to the setting. The Boulder Café, a landmark in Fitchburg since the mid 1930s, is nestled in dappled light from the budding trees on the common across the street. The bandstand is decked out for the upcoming Memorial Day holiday later in the month. The morning breeze catches the flags and they seem to flap confidently as they show their colors to every observer. Soon the streets will be bustling on this early day in May as its residents look forward to the many events which mark the coming summer month.
