Daylilies in the Magnolia Woods

(2011) This painting was donated to the Montserrat College of Art "Artrageous" Art Auction to be held in early May 2012.

My daughter and I were walking the path through the woods near Clark Pond in Magnolia when we happened upon a patch of daylilies (or tiger lilies, I suppose). It was a surprise to see them there in the woods. I used a LOT of texture in this piece to express both my delight and surprise in seeing them.
