Vivid Calm

Acrylic on stretched canvas (2011) The Old Stone Church overlooking the Wachusett Reservoir in West Boylston is always an appealing subject for an artist. This view grabbed my attention on a late afternoon in July. The water was still, except for the ripple from a fallen acorn. The tranquil beauty of the water with the mirrored image of the massive church challenged my creativity. I decided to express this piece using both painting knives and brushes. I love the texture in this painting -- a vivid telling of a calm setting.
